“Interconnection Blind” | Immersive Light and Sound Experience

The Interconnection Blind takes inspiration from traditional hunting blinds.

Contrary to the typical use of a hunting blind, this structure serves another purpose. Interconnection Blind is an intimate and immersive space where visitors can experience a sense of wonder, curiosity, and tranquility. This constructed space explores our relationship to the natural world and the connection we feel to other non-human creatures.

During the months of January and February of 2023, Keaveny spent time at the Bosque Del Apache and various spots throughout Albuquerque, NM, where they filmed the migratory sandhill cranes. Keaveny developed a deep appreciation and fondness for the cranes, as they observed their daily behavior. Keaveny spent hours filming these birds at different times throughout the day. They followed their movements from the river to nearby fields. Each time Keaveny was attuned to them, they discovered a peacefulness and presence wash over them.

The video footage Keaveny took of the cranes will be projected onto a wall inside of the blind. Viewers will be able to experience wonder and awe, as they sit in an enclosed space watching the cranes fly and interact with each other and their environment. The projection will be accompanied by original music interspersed with field recordings.

About the artist:

The essence of my work is about exploring the potential of Healing through unusual ways. I find healing in nature. I frequently work outside and put my body into direct contact with the Earth. I use installation to allow others to find space for healing within themselves. Film is a medium that I have found to be perfect for how my work is evolving.

By exploring the potential of healing, my work takes on many different forms and mediums. I love to use collage, printmaking, stop-animation, and film media to push my ideas and create work that can create a positive impact within others, myself, and the natural world.
